Leading strategic retail and leisure property consultancy Harper Dennis Hobbs has been appointed by immersive cinema company, Backyard Cinema to support its future growth ambitions.
Having recently received a major investment from Sony Music, Backyard Cinema is undertaking an aggressive growth strategy to expand its cinema sites across London and the UK.
Currently operating from Wandsworth, Backyard Cinema delivers an immersive cinema experience, transforming venues to create exciting and memorable destinations for customers.
Working in partnership with Harper Dennis Hobbs will allow Backyard Cinema to find, secure and transform the unique locations that make the brand popular with consumers.
Sites are actively being sought across London, including a potential relocation of their current Wandsworth site, with news of future growth plans expected to follow outside the capital.
David Purslow, executive director at Harper Dennis Hobbs, commented:
“We are delighted to be working with such an exciting and ambitious team to help grow their footprint and allow more people to enjoy Backyard Cinema.
“An expanding Backyard Cinema will be a fantastic addition to the UK hospitality sector, as it offers consumers exactly what they are looking for following a year and half of restrictions – sociable and immersive experiences that can be enjoyed with friends and family.
“Backyard Cinema requires a unique profile and specification of building for their locations, with a minimum 15,000 SQ FT and 4m ceiling height to fit in the screens. Interesting buildings such as warehouses, industrial sites and ex-movie and television studios are currently under consideration. The new locations must maintain the aesthetics and identity that has made the brand so popular.”
Dominic Davies, founder and creative director of Backyard Cinema, added:
“After the great success we have had at Capital Studios, Wandsworth, we are immensely excited to be working with Harper Dennis Hobbs to find a new home. With Sony’s support, we are looking for bigger and better sites to deliver a truly unique cinema experience with even more entertaining, magical experiences for our audience.
“Our focus remains on finding sites in London; however, we plan to continue growing further afield and bringing Backyard Cinema to new cities across the UK and beyond.”
